 Wednesday, January 17,2024

AsemconnectVietnam - On Wednesday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area rose by 1500 VND to VND70,600 – VND72,800 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND71,300/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND70,600. Robusta coffee increased to VND70,600 in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; to VND72,600 – VND72,700 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND72,700 – VND72,800 in Dak Nong; to VND72,600 per kg in Kon Tum, and to VND72,600 – VND72,700 per kg in Gia Lai.
The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association has just announced that the escalating war situation in the Red Sea area has caused shipping lines to decide not to go through this route but go through the Cape of Good Hope, leading to longer travel times of 8-21 days, and shipping costs to Europe and the United States have also increased 4-5 times.
Currently, businesses are facing many difficulties in finding new orders due to rising transportation costs, causing commodity prices to increase, and buyers do not accept the new prices. At the same time, businesses are facing difficulties because shipping lines automatically impose war surcharges on shipments loaded on ships from December 2023 with a fee of about 1,000-2,700 USD for containers from 20- 40 feet. This also pushed coffee prices up sharply again.
While Robusta prices are climbing to record levels, unseasonal rain is threatening India's coffee industry. Excessive rainfall in Karmataka and Kerala can delay harvest and affect yields.
