Import turnover of phones and components decreased by 12 billion USD
Tuesday, January 16,2024AsemconnectVietnam - Phones and components are one of group of imported goods with the largest decrease in turnover, according to the latest preliminary statistics just announced by General Department of Customs.
Specifically, in the first half of December, 2023 (December 1-15, 2023), Vietnam's total import turnover reached 15.48 billion USD, an increase of 6.1% (equivalent to an increase of 893 million USD) comparing to the actual results in the second half of November, 2023.
Imports of goods in the first period of December 2023 increased slightly comparing to the second period of November 2023, mainly in some product groups, such as: computers, electronic products and components increased by 135 million USD (corresponding to an increase of 3,2%); machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts increased by 62 million USD (equivalent to an increase of 3.3%)...
Thus, from the beginning of the year to end of December 15, 2023, the country's total import turnover reached 312.35 billion USD, down 9.8% (equivalent to a decrease of 34.06 billion USD) comparing to the same period last year 2022.
Notably, import turnover of phones and components decreased by approximately 12 billion USD (corresponding to a decrease of 58.8%). As of December 15, import turnover of this product group only reached 8.4 billion USD.
Thus, phones and components alone account for 35.1% of the country's decline in import turnover.
Key import market for this product group is China with 6.7 billion USD (updated by the end of November), accounting for 83.6% of the country's import turnover of phones and components at the same time.
Other product groups with a large decrease in turnover include: Machinery, equipment, services and spare parts decreased by 3.85 billion USD (corresponding to a decrease of 8.8%); Raw materials decreased by 2.67 billion USD (equivalent to a decrease of 22.2%)...
