Seafood exports to markets in 2023 decreased by 17.9%

AsemconnectVietnam - According to preliminary statistics of General Department of Customs, exports of seafood products in December 2023 decreased by 5.7% compared to November 2023 and decreased by 1% comparing to December 2022, reaching over 745.07 million USD.

For the whole year 2023, exports of aquatic products will reach over 8.97 billion USD, down 17.9% compared to 2022. Particularly, seafood exports of foreign invested enterprises (FDI) account for 9.5% of the country's total export turnover of this product group, reaching 854.41 million USD, down 9.2%.
Seafood exported the most to the US market accounts for 17.4% of the country's total export turnover of this product group, reached nearly 1.56 billion USD, a sharp decrease of 26.9% compared to 2022; Of which, December 2023 alone reached 113.39 million USD, down 13.7% compared to November 2023 but up 14% compared to December 2022.
Ranking the second in turnover is Japanese market, accounting for 16.9%, reaching nearly 1.52 billion USD, down 11.2%; In December 2023 alone, exports to this market reached 123.99 million USD, down 14.3% compared to November 2023 and down 3.1% compared to December 2022.
Chinese market in December 2023 decreased by 14.4% compared to November 2023 and decreased by 11.4% compared to December 2022, reaching 91.1 million USD; In total, exports to this market in 2023 will decreased by 15% compared to 2022, reaching nearly 1.34 billion USD, accounting for 14.9% of the total turnover.
Seafood exports to the FTA RCEP market in 2023 decrease by 13.9% compared to 2022, reaching 4.64 billion USD; Exports to the FTA, CPTTP market decreased by 15.6%, reaching 2.42 billion USD. Seafood exports to the EU market account for 9.7% of the country's total seafood export turnover, reaching over 869.54 million USD, down 28.9%. Exports to the Southeast Asian market accounted for 7.5% of total turnover, reaching nearly 668.8 million USD, down 13.7%.
