DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices rose by 500 VND on December 28
Thursday, December 28,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands rose by 500 VND to VND82,000 to VND85,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper rose to VND83,000 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price to VND82,000 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND85,000 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND82,000 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND84,500 per kilogram.
Currently, the early harvest has begun scattered in some areas of Dak Nong. In this locality, the development of pepper in recent years has reached new heights associated with value chains. Dak Nong has built 2 pepper production areas applying high technology in 2 communes Thuan Ha and Thuan Hanh.
Dak Nong pepper currently ranks first in the Central Highlands region and the whole country in terms of area, only behind Dak Lak province in terms of output. Dak Lak province currently has over 32,800 hectares of pepper, with an output of nearly 82,000 tonnes, accounting for about 40% of the area and 43.3% of the output of the entire Central Highlands region.
In recent years, Dak Nong pepper area has grown steadily at 34,000 hectares. This area is consistent with the province's development orientation according to the Dak Nong Province Master Plan for the period 2021-2030, with an orientation to 2050.
The average pepper yield in the whole province is about 2.4 tonnes/ha; Total annual output reaches about 70,000 tonnes/year. Dak Nong has 547 hectares of pepper certified organic, about 332 hectares applying the GAP process.
