DAILY: Vietnamese coffee prices rose by 1000 VND on December 12
Tuesday, December 12,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Tuesday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area increased by 1000 VND to VND59,000 – VND60,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.
Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND61,600/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND60,700. Robusta coffee rose to VND60,700 in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; to VND61,500 – VND61,600 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND61,500 – VND61,600 in Dak Nong; to VND61,500 per kg in Kon Tum, and to VND61,400 – VND61,500 per kg in Gia Lai.
Vice President of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa) Do Ha Nam said that in the history of the coffee industry, not only do Vietnamese businesses buy young coffee, but there are also many FDI businesses. bought in advance a fairly large amount of goods.
Before November 2023, the buying price was up to 64,000 VND/kg, currently the coffee price is still at 60,000 VND/kg. This is an unprecedented price at the beginning of the season and has never had such a high price in Vietnam.
Normally, in the past, inventory was between 150,000 - 200,000 tonnes, but this year Vietnam completely lacks this source of goods, signaling a very unusual situation in the near future for the Vietnamese coffee industry.
If everyone focuses on the Vietnamese market, from now until the end of April 2024, everyone will only buy Vietnamese coffee, making the supply very scarce. Thus, Vietnamese coffee prices will increase at least until April 2024, before Indonesia starts the new crop.
In the first 11 months of 2023, Vietnam's coffee exports reached nearly 1.4 million tons, worth more than 3.5 billion USD, down 13% in volume and 2.5% in value over the same period last year. Notably, the average export price of Vietnamese coffee in November 2023 reached 3,148 USD/tonne, up nearly 33% over the same period last year.
