DAILY: Vietnamese coffee prices fell by 100 VND on December 7
Thursday, December 7,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area decreased by 100 VND to VND59,000 – VND60,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.
Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND60,000/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND59,000. Robusta coffee fell to VND59,000 in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; to VND59,900 – VND60,000 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND59,900 – VND60,000 in Dak Nong; to VND59,800 per kg in Kon Tum, and to VND59,700 – VND59,800 per kg in Gia Lai.
Việt Nam’s coffee export volume in the 2023-24 season is likely to be lower than a year earlier due to a drop in output, no carry-over stock and growing local demand, and export prices will remain high, according to the Việt Nam Coffee and Cocoa Association.
Speaking at the 27th Asia International Conference in HCM City on December 5 and 6, Nguyễn Nam Hải, the association’s chairman, said Việt Nam, the world’s largest robusta coffee supplier, is in the 2023-24 harvest season, with about 50 per cent of total cultivation areas harvested, with output estimated to drop much more than expected.
The Import-Export Department (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade) cited the statistics figures from the General Department of Customs as saying that it is estimated that Vietnam's coffee exports in November of 2023 reached 80,000 tonnes, worth of 252 million USD, an increase of 830% in volume and an increase of 59.9% in value compared to October of 2023, a decrease of 37.9% in volume and a decrease of 17.5% in value compared to November of 2022.
In the first 11 months of 2023, Vietnam's coffee exports were estimated to reach approximately 1.38 million tonnes, worth of 3.54 billion USD, down by 12.9% in volume and 2.5% in value compared to the same period last year. Vietnam's average coffee export price was estimated to reach 2,570 USD/tonne, an increase of 11.9% over the same period of 2022.
It is estimated that in November of 2023, Vietnam's average coffee export price reached 3,148 USD/tonne, down by 12.6% compared to November of 2023, but up by 32.8% compared to November of 2022.
