DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices rose by 500 VND on November 30
Thursday, November 30,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands rose by 500 VND to VND70,500 to VND73,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper increased to VND73,000 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price to VND70,500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND73,000 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND70,000 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND71,500 per kilogram.
Domestic pepper prices continue to have a clear upward trend in November 2023, with an increase from 69,000 VND (November 1, 2023) to 73,500 VND (November 26, 2023), equivalent to 6.5%. The main reason is due to strong demand from major import markets in the last months of 2023 and the first quarter of 2024.
Next year's harvest season in Vietnam is expected to be relatively similar to last year, with some small harvest locations in early January 2024 and the main crop starting at the end of February 2024 or mid-March 2024.
Talking to the press, Mr. Le Duc Huy - General Director of Simexco said that pepper prices next year will likely reach 85,000 - 90,000 VND/kg because at the end of the third quarter, countries often begin to increase imports to preparing for early 2024, but this year they do not seem confident about the general financial and economic situation, so their purchases are quite cautious. Import markets have not bought yet because of fear of capital stagnation. However, it is possible that by the first quarter of 2024, countries will have to buy goods for immediate delivery because by then the inventory will be gone.
