Seafood export markets in 10 months of 2023
Thursday, November 30,2023AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 10 months of 2023, Vietnam’s exports of seafood reached over 7.44 billion USD, down by 20.7% compared to the first 10 months of 2022.
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s exports of seafood products in October of 2023 increased by 3.4% compared to September of 2023 but decreased by 6.8% compared to October of 2022, reaching over 841 .32 million USD. Overall, in the first 10 months of 2023, the country’s exports of this product group reached over 7.44 billion USD, down by 20.7% compared to the first 10 months of 2022.
Seafood exported the most to the US market, which accounted for 17.7% of the country's total export turnover of this product group, reaching over 1.31 billion USD, down by 31.4% compared to the first 10 months of 2022. In October of 2023 alone, the country’s exports of seafood to the U.S reached 144.9 million USD, down by 3.3% compared to September of 2023 and also 3.3% compared to October of 2022.
Japanese market ranked, accounting for 16.8%, reaching nearly 1.25 billion USD, down by 12.6% over the same period last year. In October of 2023 alone, the country’s exports to this market reached 143.94 million USD, up by 11.4% compared to September of 2023 but down by 10.2% compared to October of 2022.
The next was the Chinese market. In October of 2023, the country’s exports of seafood to China decreased by 5.7% compared to September of 2023 and decreased by 4.2% compared to October of 2022, reaching 132.64 million USD. Totally in the first 10 months of 2023, Vietnam’s exports to this market decreased by 14.9% compared to the first 10 months of 2022, reaching over 1.14 billion USD, accounting for 15.4% of the country's total export turnover of this product group.
Seafood exports to the FTA RCEP market in the 10 months of 2023 decreased by 15% compared to the 10 months of 2022, reaching over 3.86 billion USD, accounting for 51.9% of the total turnover; while the exports to the FTA CPTTP market decreased by 18.2%, reaching over 1.99 billion USD, accounting for 26.7%. The exports to the EU market accounted for 9.7% of total turnover, reaching over 722.28 million USD, down by 32.4%. The exports to the Southeast Asian market accounted for 7.6% of total turnover, reaching nearly 561.82 million USD, down by 13%.
