Seafood imports decreased by 5.5% in first 10 months of 2023
Thursday, November 30,2023AsemconnectVietnam - According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, the import turnover of all kinds of seafood to Vietnam in the first 10 months of 2023 reached over 2.14 billion USD, down by 5.5% compared to the first 10 months of 2022.
In October of 2023 alone, the import turnover of this product group reached nearly 197.64 million USD, down by 5.2% compared to September of 2023 and down by 12.5% compared to October of 2022.
In the first 10 months of 2023, India, Norway, Indonesia, China and Japan were the main markets supplying seafood to Vietnam. In which the imports from India led in turnover, reaching 283.3 million USD, accounting for 13.2% of the country's total import turnover of this product group, down by 9.8% compared to the same period of 2022. In October of 2023 alone, the imports from this market reached 25.66 million USD, down by 3.6% compared to September of 2023 and down by 28.4% compared to October of 2022.
Norwegian market ranked second. The imports from this market in October of 2023 increased by 0.6% compared to September of 2023 but decreased by 16% compared to October of 2022, reaching 18.71 million USD, increasing the total import turnover in the first 10 months of 2023 to 224.26 million USD, accounting for 10.5% of the total, up by 9.4% compared to the first 10 months of 2022.
The next was the Chinese market with 176.99 million USD in the first 10 months of 2023, accounting for 8.3%, down by 1.8%; Indonesia with 164.39 million USD, accounting for 7.7%, down by 28.5%; Japan with 138.76 million USD, accounting for 6.5%, down by 1.8%.
In general, in the first 10 months of 2023, seafood import turnover from main markets decreased compared to the same period last year.
