Vietnam spent more than 1.1 billion USD to import phones in October

According to the data from the General Department of Customs, in October of 2023, the import value of all types of phones and components reached nearly 1.1 billion USD, an increase of about 12% compared to the previous month (corresponding to an increase of 111 billion USD).
However, in the first 10 months of 2023, Vietnam imports of phones of all kinds and components reached 7.1 billion USD, the import value decreased sharply, equivalent to only 1/3 of the import value in the same period last year.
The main market for Vietnam to import phones and components in the first 10 months of 2023 was China with more than 5.9 billion USD, down by 13.5%, equivalent to a decrease of 926 million USD. The Chinese market accounted for 83% of the country's import value of all types of phones and components.
For exports, according to the General Department of Customs, phones of all types and components were the items that brought in the highest export value to Vietnam. The value of all types of phones and components in October of 2023 reached 5.21 billion USD, an increase of 3.3% compared to the previous month. Totally in the first 10 months of 2023, the exports of this product group reached over 44 billion USD, down by 12%, equivalent to a decrease of 6.2 billion USD compared to the same period last year.
In the first 10 months of 2023, Vietnam exported more than 13 billion USD of phones and components to China, a slight increase of 1.3% over the same period last year. The US market ranked second with an export value of nearly 6.9 billion USD, down by 36%. South Korea ranked third with the value of more than 2.9 billion USD, down by 35%.
