Exports of vegetables, fruits and rice increased by billions of USD

According to the General Department of Customs, by the end of October, Vietnam's export turnover reached 291.46 billion USD, down by 7% (equivalent to a decrease of 22.04 billion USD) compared to the same period last year.
Among them, there were up to 8 product groups with a decrease in turnover of over 500 million USD, of which the biggest decrease was phones and components, down by 6.24 billion USD.
The next were textiles and garments decreased by 4.08 billion USD; footwear of all kinds decreased by 3.68 billion USD; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts decreased by 2.82 billion USD; Wood and wood products decreased by 2.61 billion USD; seafood decreased by 1.94 billion USD; chemicals decreased by 686 million USD; iron and steel products decreased by 611 million USD.
Notably, in the context of gloomy export activities, there were still product groups that achieved impressive growth.
The statistical data from the General Department of Customs recorded that by the end of October, there were 3 export commodity groups with turnover increasing by 1 billion USD or more, including fruits and vegetables increased by 2.08 billion USD; transport vehicles and spare parts increased by 1.66 billion USD; rice increased by more than 1 billion USD.
Thus, 2 of the 3 commodity groups with the highest turnover increase come from the agricultural sector.
Specifically, by the end of October, fruit and vegetable exports reached 4.82 billion USD, the highest turnover in 10 months and increased by 75.5% over the same period last year. Of which, the exports of durian products reached 1.96 billion USD, an increase of 1.78 billion USD (more than 10 times more than the same period last year)
China was Vietnam's largest fruit and vegetable export market with a turnover of 3.19 billion USD, an increase of 165% (equivalent to an increase of 1.98 billion USD) over the same period last year and accounting for 66% of the total turnover of the country.
For rice products, in 10 months, the whole country exported 7.1 million tonnes, with a turnover of 3.95 billion USD (an increase of 34% in volume and an increase of 15.6% in value compared to the same period last year).
The ASEAN region (mainly the Philippines and Indonesia, Singapore) and China were the two largest export markets.
Of which, the exports to ASEAN reached 4.2 million tonnes, an increase of 25.7%; to the Chinese market reached 884,000 tonnes, up by 16.7% over the same period last year.
The amount of rice exported to the two markets mentioned above alone reached nearly 5.1 million tonnes, accounting for 72% of the country's rice exports.
By the end of October, the country’s exports of means of transport and spare parts reached 11.46 billion USD, up by 17% over the same period last year. The main export markets of this product group were the United States, Japan, and South Korea.
