 Thursday, November 23,2023

AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area rose by 100 VND to VND57,200 – VND57,900 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND57,900/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND57,200. Robusta coffee increased to VND57,200 in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; to VND57,800 – VND57,900 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND57,500 – VND58,600 in Dak Nong; to VND57,600 per kg in Kon Tum, and to VND57,500 – VND57,600 per kg in Gia Lai.
Vietnam has been facing depleted supplies since the beginning of the fourth quarter of the 2022-2023 coffee crop year, when inventories were reported to be low. Currently, Vietnam is entering the harvest season of the 2023 - 2024 crop year. The Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA) said that output is shrinking, and inventory from old crop to new crop is the lowest over the years. The previous crop year's ending inventory in September 9 was estimated at about 2022 tons, while in September 160.000 the inventory transferred to the new 9 - 2023 crop only reached 2023 tons.
VICOFA said that it is expected that the 2023-2024 coffee crop production will decrease by 10%. Due to the impact of climate change, the area of intercropping increases, farmers will invest in crops with high economic efficiency such as durian and fruit trees.
In addition, because coffee prices are trending down, some areas have green picking, which greatly affects the quality of coffee at the beginning of the crop year.
