DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices remained unchanged on November 20
Monday, November 20,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Monday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND68,000 to VND71,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper stayed at VND71,000 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND67,500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND70,500 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND68,000 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND69,500 per kilogram.
Statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Nong province show that in recent years, Dak Nong pepper area has grown steadily at 34,000 hectares. This area is consistent with the province's pepper development orientation according to the Dak Nong Province Master Plan for the period 2021-2030, with an orientation to 2050.
Currently, the average pepper yield in the whole province is about 2.4 tonnes/ha. Total annual pepper output reaches about 70,000 tonnes. In particular, Dak Nong has developed 547 hectares of certified organic pepper, about 332 hectares apply GAP process. In Dak Nong today, the movement to grow pepper in an organic and biological direction and achieve certifications for good agricultural production is becoming stronger day by day. Pepper trees are reviving in areas that were previously considered "dead lands".
Dak Nong pepper growers now have a new mindset thanks to sustainable production and high economic efficiency. This is the premise for the sustainable development of Vietnam's pepper industry in the future.
