Friday, November 3,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND65,500 to VND68,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper stayed at VND68,500 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND65,500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND68,500 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND67,000 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND67,500 per kilogram.
According to preliminary statistics from the General Statistics Office, in the first 10 months of 2023, pepper exports will reach 223 thousand tonnes, valued at 745 million USD, up 16.2% in volume but down 11% in value compared to the same period last year. The price pepper average export reached 3,339 USD/tonne, down 23.4% year on year.
The 2024 pepper crop will start in the next 2 months in the Dak Nong area, which is considered the most important region for Vietnamese pepper.
The flood situation in July is estimated to affect the upcoming pepper harvest, combined with the forecast that the El Nino phenomenon will occur at the end of the year, which could lead to Vietnam's pepper output in 2024 will decrease compared to 2023.
