DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices fell by 500 VND on November 1
Wednesday, November 1,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Wednesday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands fell by 500 VND to VND65,500 to VND68,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper decreased to VND68,500 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND65,500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND68,500 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND67,000 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND67,500 per kilogram.
According to the General Statistics Office, Việt Nam's pepper exports in September were estimated at 19,000 tonnes, down 5.6 per cent compared to August, but up 37.6 per cent over the same period last year. Turnover from exported pepper reached US$70 million, down 7.6 per cent compared to August, but up 22.7 per cent over the same period last year.
In the first nine months of 2023, Việt Nam's pepper exports reached 207,000 tonnes, an increase of 18.7 per cent over the same period in 2022. However, the total turnover reached $685 million, down 11.1 per cent.
China was Việt Nam's largest pepper export market in the first eight months of this year, with a volume of 53,792 tonnes, a year-on-year increase of 5.5 times; followed by the US with 33,589 tonnes, a year-on-year reduction of 10.6 per cent.
