Imports of raw materials for animal feed production in August and 8 months

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s imports of corn of all kinds in the first 8 months of 2023 reached over 5.35 million tonnes, worth of over 1.71 billion USD, the average price was 320.2 USD/tonne, down by 8 .6% in volume, 18% decrease in turnover and 10.3% decrease in price compared to the first 8 months of 2022.

Also in the first eight months of 2023, the country imported nearly 1.37 million tonnes of soybeans, worth of nearly 876.75 million USD, with an average price of 637.8 USD/tonne.
Meanwhile, the country's imported wheat volume reached nearly 3.15 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 1.11 billion USD, up by 9.2% in volume and 1.5% in turnover compared to the first 8 months of 2022.
Vietnam's corn imports in August and the first 8 months of 2023
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s imports of corn of all kinds in the first 8 months of 2023 reached over 5.35 million tonnes, worth of over 1.71 billion USD, the average price was 320.2 USD/tonne, down by 8.6% in volume, 18% decrease in turnover and 10.3% decrease in price compared to the first 8 months of 2022.
In August of 2023 alone, the figure reached 1.08 million tonnes, equivalent to 310.29 million USD, the average price 288.6 was USD/tonne, an increase of 80% in volume and 75.4% increase in turnover compared to July of2023, but the price decreased by 2.5%. In comparison to August of 2022, it also increased sharply by 50.7% in volume, increased by 19.9% in turnover but decreased by 20.5% in price.
Leading corn import markets in the first 8 months of 2023
Argentina was the largest market supplying corn to Vietnam in the first 8 months of 2023, accounting for over 36% of the country's total corn import volume and turnover, reaching 1.96 million tonnes, equivalent to over 619.69 million USD, the price was 316.4 USD/tonne, a sharp decrease of 45.7% in volume, a decrease of 52.6% in turnover and a decrease of 12.6% in price compared to the first 8 months of 2022.
The second largest market was Brazil, in the first 8 months of 2023, the country’s imports of corn from Brazil reached 1.72 million tonnes, equivalent to 559.46 million USD, the price was at 325.3 USD/tonne, accounting for over 32% of total corn import volume and turnover of the whole country, a sharp increase of 281% in volume, an increase of 272% in turnover but a slight decrease in price of 2.4% compared to the first 8 months of 2022.
The next was the Indian market. In the first 8 months of 2023, the country’s imports of corn from India reached 1.18 million tonnes, equivalent to 364.97 million USD, with the price of 309.7 USD/tonne, accounting for 22% of the total volume and 21.3% of the total import turnover of the country, increased by 74% in volume and 63.2% in turnover, but the price decreased by 6.2% over the same period last year.
Vietnam’s soybean imports in August and the first 8 months of 2023
In the first eight months of 2023, Vietnam imported nearly 1.37 million tonnes of soybeans, worth of nearly 876.75 million USD, with an average price of 637.8 USD/tonne.
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, soybean imports in August of 2023 reached 166,091 tonnes, equivalent to 96.65 million USD, average price was 581.9 USD/tonne, an increase of 83.8% in volume and increased turnover by 86% compared to July of 2023, and the price increased by 1.2%. In comparison to August of 2022, it also increased sharply by 207% in volume and 138% in turnover, but the price decreased by 22.6%.
In the first 8 months of 2023, the whole country imported nearly 1.37 million tonnes of soybean, worth of nearly 876.75 million USD, the average price was 637.8 USD/tonne, up by 7.1% in volume, but down by 2% in turnover and a decrease of 8.5% in price compared to the first 8 months of 2022.
Leading soybean import markets in August and the first 8 months of 2023
Soybeans imported to Vietnam from the Brazilian market the most. In August of 2023, the country’s imports of soybean from Brazil increased sharply by 101.4% in volume and 108.5% in turnover compared to July of 2023, the price increased slightly by 3.5%, reaching 142,958 tonnes, equivalent to 81.03 million USD, and the price was 566.8 USD/tonne. Overall, in the first eight months of 2023, soybean imports from this market reached 735,484 tonnes, equivalent to 439.25 million USD, accounting for 53.5% of the total volume and 50% of the country's total soybean import turnover of the country, down by 8.1% in volume, down by 22.2% in turnover, and the price was down by 15.3% over the same period last year.
The imports of soybeans from the US market - the second largest market in the first 8 months of 2023 reached 498,347 tonnes, equivalent to 340.73 million USD, the price was at 683.7 USD/tonne, accounting for 36.3% of the total volume and accounting for 38 9% of the country's total soybean import turnover, up by 22.9% in volume, up by 24.6% in turnover and the price was up by 1.4% over the same period last year.
In addition, soybean imports from the Canadian market in the first 8 months of 2023 reached 75,088 tonnes, equivalent to over 55.8 million USD, priced at 743 USD/tonbe, up by 7.8% in volume, up by 10% in turnover and the price increased by 2.1% over the same period last year. The imports from the Cambodian market reached 375 tonnes, equivalent to 292,550 USD, priced at 780 USD/tonne, a sharp decrease of 94% in both volume and turnover but an increase of 3.5% in price.
Wheat imports in August and the first eight months of 2023
In the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam’s imports of wheat reached nearly 3.15 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 1.11 billion USD, up by 9.2% in volume and 1.5% in turnover compared to the first 8 months. 2022.

Overall, in the first 8 months of 2023, the country's imports of wheat reached nearly 3.15 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 1.11 billion USD, an increase of 9.2% in volume, an increase of 1.5% in turnover compared to the first 8 months of 2022, the average price reached 352.3 USD/tonne, down by 7%.
Leading wheat import markets in August and the first 8 months of 2023
In August of 2023, wheat imports from the main market Australia decreased by 52% in volume and 54.3% in turnover compared to July of 2023, the price also decreased by 4.7%, reaching 157,831 tonnes, equivalent to 49.84 million USD, price 315.8 USD/ton; Compared to August 2022, it also decreased by 45.3% in volume, 56.7% in turnover and 20.8% in price. For the entire eight months of 2023, wheat imports from the Australian market account for 72.6% of the total volume and 71% of the country's total wheat import turnover, reaching nearly 2.28 million tons, equivalent to 786.88 million USD, average price 344.7 USD/ton, up 8.8% in volume, but down 1.9% in turnover and down 9.8% in price compared to the first 8 months of 2022.
Behind the main market of Australia is the US market, accounting for 8.2% of the total volume and 9.2% of the total turnover, reaching 259,291 tons, equivalent to 102.24 million USD, average price of 394.3 USD/ tons, up 100.6% in volume, up 73.3% in turnover but down 13.6% in price compared to the first 8 months of 2022.
Next, the Brazilian market reached 261,611 tons, equivalent to 95.82 million USD, price 366.3 USD/ton, down 19% in volume, down 14.9% in turnover but up 5% in price compared to the first 8 months of 2022. , accounting for over 8% of the country's total wheat import volume and turnover.
Wheat imports from the Canadian market reached 166,961 tons, equivalent to 69.3 million USD, a sharp increase of 2,751% in volume and 2,357% in turnover compared to the first 8 months of 2022.
