In the An Giang area, according the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, An Giang sticky paddy (dried) price decreased by 100 VND/kg to 9,000 - 9,200 VND/kg; Long An sticky rice (dried) also decreased by 100 VND/kg to 9,100 - 9,200 VND/kg; undried rice IR 50404 fell by 100 VND/kg to 7,600 - 7,800 VND/kg.

Over 585 tonnes of rice delivered to needy people in Dak Lak
More than 585 tonnes of rice from the national reserve are being delivered to needy people in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak in light of the lean season in 2023.
Accordingly, from September 25-28, rice is allocated to people in need in the districts Lak, Krong Ana, Krong Bong, Krong Nang, Krong Buk, Ea H’leo, M’Drak, Buon Don, Ea Sup, Cu M’gar.
Lak district receives the largest amount with more than 133 tonnes. Ethnic minorities account for 67% of the district’s population, with over 8,000 poor households. Floods that occurred in late July and early this month inundated nearly 3,000 hectares of Summer-Autumn rice, of which more than 2,000 hectares were destroyed. Lak district is the province's rice granary.
Dak Lak is one of the six localities receiving rice from the national reserve under Decision No.1049/QD-TTg dated September 13, 2023 signed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai.
Under the decision, more than 3,300 tonnes of rice from the national reserve will be allocated to Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Bac Kan, Dak Lak and Cao Bang provinces to support local people in light of the lean season in 2023.
Hanoi focuses on building rice trademark
Hanoi is working to cultivate high-quality rice varieties in 80% of the local rice farming area in a bid to build trademark for the product in the 2021-2025 period.
The city is currently home to more than 200 concentrated rice production regions with a total area of about 40,000 hectares.
It aims to maintain and develop 200 Japonica and high-quality rice production regions towards VietGAP and organic standards for export. The capital city plans to form 3-5 domestic rice supply and export linkage chains in the period.
Ta Van Tuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that thanks to the high-quality rice production programme, the city has enhanced the productivity and economic efficiency of rice production by 15-20%. Particularly, Hanoi’s Japonica rice has been exported to the US, Japan, and Australia.
Economists held that currently, the world rice market is experiencing many fluctuations due to India’s restriction of export, leading to a drop in the global supply. Meanwhile, El Nino phenomena are also affecting the production of the food in some Asian country, they said, predicting that the price of the grain will rise by 50-100 USD per tonne, which is a chance for Hanoi in rice export.
Over 3,300 tonnes of rice allocated for localities during lean season
More than 3,300 tonnes of rice from the national reserve will be allocated to six provinces to support local people in light of the lean season in 2023.
Under Decision No.1049/QD-TTg recently signed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai, Lai Chau province will get nearly 472 tonnes of rice, Dien Bien 825 tonnes, Ha Giang 386 tonnes, Bac Kan 107 tonnes, Dak Lak 586 tonnes, Cao Bang 933 tonnes.
The Deputy Prime Minister asked the Ministries of Finance, and Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to take prime responsibility for rice allocation and make reports on the work.
Meanwhile, the People’s Committees of the six localities are responsible for provide support for the needy in a timely fashion and in line with regulations.
