DAILY: Vietnamese coffee prices increased by 400 VND on September 15

 Friday, September 15,2023

AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area rose by 400 VND to VND65,900 – VND66,900 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND66,900/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND65,900/kg. Robusta coffee increased to VND65,900 in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; to VND66,500 – VND66,600 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND66,800 - VND66,900 in Dak Nong; to VND66,400 per kg in Kon Tum, and to VND66,300 - VND66,400 per kg in Gia Lai.
Vietnam’s coffee exports in the first eight months of 2023 stood at 1.2 million metric tons, a fall of 5.4% from the same period of last year, government customs data showed on Monday.
Coffee export revenue for the period reached $2.9 billion, up 3.1% against the Jan-Aug period of 2022, Vietnam Customs said in a statement.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) suggests that Vietnam's coffee production for the 2022/2023 season decreased compared to the previous season, but the decline was less severe (6% decrease) and reached 29.7 million bags (60 kg/bag), equivalent to 1.78 million tons. Therefore, based on various forecasts, it can be concluded that up to this point, coffee inventories in Vietnam are nearly depleted. In fact, some exporters are concerned that there might not be enough coffee to deliver in the second half of this year.
This situation is not unique to Vietnam; the robusta coffee production in other Asian countries like India and Indonesia has also significantly decreased, with declines of up to 20%. The shortage of robusta coffee supply on the global market is evident in the trading prices of this commodity. In the second quarter of 2023, the world price of robusta coffee reached a record high of 2,900 USD/ton.
Following are domestic Robusta coffee prices on September 15, in Vietnam's Central Highlands:
