Vietnam imported 6.13 million tonnes of petroleum in 7 months
Monday, August 28,2023AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 7 months of the year, Vietnam imported 6.13 million tonnes of petroleum with the total turnover of 4.88 billion USD, up by 12.7% in volume, and down by 14.7% in turnover over the same period last year.
According to the General Department of Customs, in July of this year, the whole country imported 922,000 tonnes of petroleum of all kinds, down by 11.8% compared to the previous month; total turnover reached 725 million USD, down by 3.7%.
Generally in the first 7 months of the year, Vietnam imported 6.13 million tonnes of petroleum of all kinds, with a total turnover of 4.88 billion USD, up by 12.7% in volume, but down by 14.7% in turnover compared with the same period of 2022.
In which, the two main imported products were diesel oil and gasoline. Specifically, the imports of diesel oil reached 3.35 million tonnes, up by 6.2%, accounting for 55% of imported gasoline of all kinds of the country; while the imports of gasoline reached 1.28 million tonnes, up by 28.9% over the same period last year and accounted for 21% of the country's total petroleum imports.
Vietnam imported petroleum of all kinds mostly from Asian markets such as South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
In particular, the imports from South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia increased sharply but the imports from Thai market decreased.
In the first 7 months of this year, South Korea was the largest petroleum import market with 2.46 million tonnes, up by 13.5%.
The next was Singapore with 1.55 million tonnes, up by 105.6%; and then Malaysia with 1.03 million tonnes, up by 26.7%.
Meanwhile, the imports from Thailand reached only 528,000 tonnes, down by 25%.
