DAILY: Vietnamese coffee prices increased by 1000 VDN on July 25
Tuesday, July 25,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Tuesday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area rose by 1000 VND to VND67,000 – VND67,700 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.
Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND67,700/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND67,000/kg. Robusta coffee increased to VND67,700 in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; to VND66,600 – VND66,700 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND67,600 – VND67,700 per kg in Dak Nong; to VND67,300 per kg in Kon Tum, and to VND67,200 - VND67,300 per kg in Gia Lai.
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam exported 31,607 tonnes of coffee in the first half of July 2023, only 46% of the amount of coffee exported in the same period last month and 46% lower than the volume transported in the same period last year. Moreover, accumulated coffee exports from the beginning of the year to the end of July 15 stood at 1.04 million tonnes, down 3.78% from 1.08 million tonnes in the same period in 2022.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates that Vietnam’s coffee production in the 2022/2023 crop will decrease by 6% compared to the previous crop, to the lowest level in 4 years, reaching 29.7 million bags (60 kg/bag).
According to estimates by the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), Vietnam’s robusta coffee output in the 2022/2023 crop year will decrease by 10-15% compared to the previous crop year, to about 1.5 million tons.
Currently, many domestic coffee exporters are concerned that there will not be enough coffee for delivery in the second half of this year. Therefore, in the third quarter of 2023, Vietnam’s coffee exports may decrease compared to previous quarters.
According to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, in the first half of July 2023, Vietnam’s coffee exports reached 31,607 tons, equal to only 46% of coffee exports in the same period last month and 46% lower than the same period last year.
Vietnam’s coffee exports from the beginning of the year to the end of July 15 stood at 1.04 million tons, down 3.78% from 1.08 million tons in the same period in 2022. Currently, many forecasters say that Vietnam’s coffee exports this year are likely to still reach a record of over $4 billion.
