Exports to UK reached more than 2.8 billion USD in first 6 months of 2023
Tuesday, July 18,2023AsemconnectVietnam - According to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, the export turnover of Vietnamese goods to the UK market in June of 2023 reached 506.5 million USD, up by 10.1% over the previous month.
Generally, in the first 6 months of the year, the figure reached more than 2.8 billion USD, down by 1.6% over the same period last year.
The leading products exported to the UK in the first 6 months of 2023 was the group of phones and components, reaching 638.8 million USD, up by 29.6% over the same period last year, accounting for 22.2 % the total export share. The next was the group of other machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts, reaching 419.2 million USD, up by 24.4%, accounting for 14.6% of the export proportion. It was followed by footwear of all kinds, reaching 375.5 million USD, up by 5.1%, accounting for 13.1% proportion.
In the first 6 months of 2023, a number of items with export turnover increased significantly compared to the same period last year, such as vegetables and fruits increased by 28.3%; paper and paper products increased by 104.8%; rubber products increased by 60.1%.
After more than 2 years of implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland (UKVFTA), the UK market has viewed more positively the image of Vietnamese businesses and Vietnamese products through the volume of goods imported from Vietnam increased sharply.
In order to be able to more effectively take advantage of the opportunities brought by the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA), Vietnamese businesses need to ensure that their products and production processes meet British standards.
