Last year, Indonesia recorded the highest production decline, with a decrease of about 22% compared to 2021. This year, IPC forecasts that the country's output will continue to decrease by another 15%.Indonesia's pepper exports in 2022 decreased by 21% compared to 2021, to 29,992 tonnes. Along with the decrease in output, the possibility of Indonesia's pepper exports will continue to decrease in 2023.
In the first 3 months of 2023, Indonesia exported 6,050 tonnes of pepper, down 34% compared to the same period in 2022. As of April 2023, the average FOB price of Indonesian black and white pepper traded at US$3,585/tonnes and $6,059/tonne, down 15% and 13% respectively over the same period in 2022.
