DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices fell by 500 VND on June 23
Friday, June 23,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands fell by 500 VND to VND69,500 – 72,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper fell to VND72,000 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price to VND69,500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND71,500 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND70,000 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND70,500 per kilogram.
According to the preliminary data report of the General Department of Customs, pepper exports in the first half of June 2023 reached 10,454 tonnes of pepper of all kinds, valued at 38.33 million USD. Exports in the first 6.5 months of the year reached 141,897 tonnes, up 27.4% in volume, and down 12.86% in value over the same period last year.
The average export price of pepper in the period reached 3,667 USD/tonne, up 18.06% compared to the average export price of May 2023.
In addition, the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association has just announced data showing that, in the first 18 days of June 2023, Vietnam exported 11,305 tonnes of pepper, of which black pepper reached 9,778 tonnes and white pepper reached 1,527 tonnes.
Falling export data in the last month of Q2/2023 has affected domestic pepper prices. Last week, the price of black pepper in Vietnam recovered slightly, but this week the price lost its momentum and turned to decrease.
