AsemconnectVietnam - Despite of the decrease compared to the same period last year, China is still the largest import market of Vietnam's goods.

According to the latest preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in April of this year, the whole country spent 8.73 billion USD importing goods from China.
Generally, in the first four months of the year, Vietnam spent 32.364 billion USD importing goods from China. Although the figure was down by 15.7% over the same period last year, this is still Vietnam's largest import market, accounting for 32.5% of the country's turnover.
In the past 4 months, there have been 7 groups of goods imported from China with a turnover of 1 billion USD or more.
In general, the major groups items imported by Vietnam from China included computers, electronic products and components with 6.65 billion USD; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts with 6.35 billion USD; raw materials for the textile, leather and footwear industry with 3.99 billion USD; phones and components with 2.13 billion USD.
However, several groups of items imported from China also fell sharply compared to the same period last year.
In the opposite direction, the country’s exports of goods to China in the first four months of the year reached 15.495 billion USD, accounting for 14.5% of the country's total turnover, but also down 12.9% over the same period last year.
Two commodity groups with a turnover of "billion dollars" in this market were: phones and components with 4.03 billion USD, down by 14.9%; computers, electronic products and components with 3.23 billion USD, down by 14.9%.
Currently, China is Vietnam's largest trading partner, but it is also the market with the largest trade deficit. In the first four months of the year, Vietnam had a trade deficit of nearly 17 billion USD from this market.
