Also in the first 4 months of 2023, the country's imported fertilizer amount reached 908,999 tonnes, worth of over 338.23 million USD, the average price reached 372 USD/tonne.
Vietnam’s exports of fertilizer in April and the first four months of 2023
According to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in the first 4 months of 2023, the whole country exported 537,269 tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds, equivalent to 232.17 million USD, the average price was 432 USD/tonne, down by 14.4% in volume, down by 43.7% in turnover and 34.2% in price compared to the first 4 months of 2022.
In April of 2023 alone, the country exported 131,913 tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds, reaching 48.49 million USD, priced at 367.6 USD/tonne, up by 4.2% in volume but down by 11.2% in turnover and down by 14.8 % in price compared to March of 2023. In comparison to April of 2022, the decrease in volume, turnover and price was 11.4%, 52.4% and 46.2% respectively.
Leading fertilizer export markets of Vietnam in April and the first four months of 2023
Cambodia was leading the list of the country’s main fertilizer export markets, accounted for over 28% of the total volume and total export turnover of fertilizers of the whole country, reaching 151,471 tonnes, equivalent to 65.55 million USD, the average price was 432.8 USD/tonne, increased by 3.4% in volume but decreased by 18.2% in turnover and the price decreased by 20.9% compared to the first 4 months of 2022. Particularly in April of 2023, the exports to this market reached 46,284 tonnes, equivalent to 18.09 million USD, the average price was 390.9 USD/tonne, up by 4.9% in volume and 0.3% in turnover, but the price decreased by 4.5% compared to the previous month.
South Korea followed with 47,738 tonnes, equivalent to 17.58 million USD, the average price was 368.3 USD/tonne, up by 10.8% in volume, but down by 48.7% in turnover and decreased by 53.8% in price, accounting for 8.9% of the total volume and 7.6% of the total fertilizer export turnover of the country.
The exports to the Malaysian market reached 38,004 tonnes, equivalent to 12.94 million USD, the average price was 340.5 USD/tonne, a sharp decrease of 42.8% in volume, 54.6% decrease in turnover and 20.6 % decrease in price, accounting for 7% of the total volume and 5.6% of the total turnover.
The exports to FTA RCEP markets reached 290,218 tonnes, equivalent to 123.68 million USD, down by 15.4% in volume, down by 39% in turnover, while the exports to FTA CPTTP markets reached 40,674 tonnes, equivalent to 14.23 million USD, down by 46.5% in volume, down by 59.8% in turnover. The exports to the Southeast Asian market reached 239,810 tonnes, equivalent to 104.82 million USD, down by 17.4% in volume, and down by 35.2% in turnover.
Vietnam’s imports of fertilizer in April and the first 4 months of 2023
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in April of 2023, the whole country imported 307,869 tonnes of fertilizer, equivalent to 109.78 million USD, the average price was 356.6 USD/tonne, up by 5.7% in volume, down by 3% in turnover and 8.2% in price compared to March of 2023. In comparison to April of 2022, the figure decreased in volume, turnover and price with corresponding reductions of 5.2%, 29.3% and 25.5%.
Leading fertilizer import markets in April of 2023
In April of 2023, fertilizer imports from the main market China increased by 23% in volume, up by 16.8% in turnover, but decreased by 5% in price compared to March of 2023, reaching 176,995 tonnes, equivalent to 58.44 million USD, the price reached 330.2 USD/tonne. In comparison to April of 2022, it increased by 12.7% in volume, but decreased by 8% in turnover and decreased by 18.4% in price. The imports from South Korean market in April of 2023 increased strongly by 96.4% in volume, up by 83.2% in turnover but decreased by 6.7% in price compared to March of 2023, reaching 11,151 tonnes, equivalent to above 5.83 million USD, and the price of 523 USD/tonne. In comparison with April of 2022, it decreased sharply by 34.4% in volume, 47.4% in turnover and 19.8% in price.
Leading fertilizer import markets in the first four months of 2023
Generally in the first 4 months of 2023, the country's imported fertilizer amount reached 908,999 tonnes, worth of over 338.23 million USD, the average price reached 372 USD/tonne, down by 27.4% in volume, down by 43.2% in turnover and 21.7% in price compared to the first 4 months of 2022. China was still the leading fertilizer supplier to Vietnam, accounting for 52.7% of the total volume and 49% of the total fertilizer import turnover of the whole country, reaching 479,063 tonnes, equivalent to 165.93 million USD, the average price was 346.4 USD/tonne, down by 7.6% in volume, by 20% in turnover and down by 13.6% in price compared to the first 4 months of 2022.
South Korean market ranked second, accounting for 4.6% of the total volume and 7.3% of the total turnover, with 42,108 tonnes, equivalent to 24.58 million USD, the average price of 583.7 USD/tonne, down by 25.3% in volume, 27% in turnover and 2.3% in price compared to the first 4 months of 2022.
Fertilizer imports from Southeast Asia market reached 119,623 tonnes, equivalent to 50.26 million USD, down by 2.6% in volume, down by 33% in turnover over the same period last year, accounting for 13.2% of the total volume and accounting for 14.9% of the total fertilizer import turnover of the country.
Fertilizers imported from the FTA RCEP market reached 744,754 tonnes, equivalent to 251.8 million USD, down by 11.6% in volume, down by 27.2% in turnover over the same period last year, accounting for 81.9% of the total and accounting for 74.5% of the total fertilizer import turnover of the country.
Fertilizer imports from the FTA CPTTP market reached 122,681 tonnes, equivalent to 19.2 million USD, down by 46% in volume, down by 77% in turnover over the same period last year, accounting for 13.5% of the total volume and accounting for 5.7 % of the total fertilizer import turnover of the country.
In general, in the first 4 months of 2023, fertilizer imports from most markets decreased in both volume and turnover compared to the first 4 months of 2022.
