DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices remained unchanged on May 29
Monday, May 29,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Monday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND71.500 - 74.000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi,vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper stayed at VND74.000 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price was at VND71.500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND73.500 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND71.500 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND73.000 per kilogram.
The import and export warehouses were full of stock, so they stopped buying. The positive thing is that the buying power from China is still high from the beginning of March 2023.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association, in the first 21 days of May 2023, Vietnam exported 19,637 tonnes of pepper, valued at 58.1 million USD, and also imported 2,024 tonnes, of which black pepper 1,836 tonnes, white pepper 188 tonnes. Total import turnover reached 7.1 million USD.
In the first 4 months of the year, Vietnam's pepper exports to China increased sharply while other main markets declined. Data from the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA) shows that China has surpassed the US to become the largest pepper export market of Vietnam this time with a volume of 35,914 tonnes, an increase of more than 15 times (1,430%) over the same period and far exceeding the 20,498 tonnes that Vietnam exported to this market last year.
