Pepper prices have fallen for 4 consecutive days because import and export warehouses were full of stocks, so they temporarily stopped buying, while the speculative giants seem to have bought enough.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper fell to VND73.500 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND70.500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND72.500 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND70.500 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND72.000 per kilogram.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association, in the first 21 days of May 2023, Vietnam exported 19,637 tonnes of pepper, valued at 58.1 million USD and also imported 2,024 tonnes, of which black pepper of 1,836 tonnes, white pepper of 188 tonnes. Total import turnover reached 7.1 million USD.
