DAILY: Vietnamese coffee prices remained unchanged on May 19
Friday, May 19,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area remained unchanged at VND57,000 - VND57,500 per kg compared to Yesterday due to lack of domestic supply, according to Kinhtedothi.com.
Cư M'gar of Dak Lak provided the maximum price of VND 57,500/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND 57,000/kg. Robusta coffee stayed at VND 57,000 per kg in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; at VND 57,400 – 57,500 per kg in Dak Lak; at VND57,400 – 57,500 per kg in Dak Nong; at VND 57,400 per kg in Kon Tum, and at VND57,300 – 57,400 per kg in Gia Lai.
Vietnamese farmers have almost no coffee left to sell after they converted most of the coffee that needs to be replanted every year to grow durian and passion fruit due to higher profits.
Currently, Vietnamese farmers have sold about 90% of the crop. A coffee trader in Southeast Asia told Reuters it is almost impossible to buy Vietnamese coffee to fulfill a contract at the moment because the price is too expensive.
Vietnam's coffee exports in April stood at 163,607 tonnes (2.7 million 60-kg bags), down 22.2% from March, customs data showed. January-April coffee exports were also down 5.5% against the same period last year. Coffee export revenue for the month reached $399 million, down 17.3% against March, Vietnam Customs said in a statement.
