DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices increased by 1000 VND per kg on May 15
Monday, May 15,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Monday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands rose by 1000 VND to VND73,000 – 76,500 per kg compared to Yesterday due to concerns about declining supply, according to Kinhtedothi,vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper increased to VND76,500 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price to VND73,000 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND76,000 per kilogram, Dong Nai province for VND74,000 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND74,000 per kilogram.
In the first 4 months of 2023, Vietnam exported 103,018 tonnes of pepper. In which, exports to China's main pepper market reached 35,914 tonnes.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association, in April 2023, Vietnam exported 26,291 tonnes of pepper of all kinds, of which 23,760 tonnes of black pepper and 2,531 tonnes of white pepper.
The domestic pepper market last week fluctuated strongly, increased strongly in the early days and decreased at the end of the week. Summarizing the week, pepper prices in the Central Highlands increased by 1,000 VND/kg, while the Southeast provinces added 1,500 VND/kg.
Domestic pepper prices have experienced three consecutive increases. Commenting on the market, experts said that the strong buying demand reported from China and the Middle East along with the continued support from major exporters helped to increase pepper prices.
With the current upward momentum, the price mark of 80,000 VND/kg can be reached this month. There are many reflections that two large Vietnamese corporations with abundant financial resources have purchased and hoarded pepper. This has pushed pepper prices up over time.
