DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices increased 1000 VND on May 5
Friday, May 5,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands rose by 1000 VND to VND68,500 – 71,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi,vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper increased to VND71,000 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price to VND68,500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND70,500 per kilogram, Dong Nai province for VND68,500 per kilogram and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND69,500 per kilogram.
Since the beginning of the year, prolonged hot weather, unseasonal rain and intense local rain in some places have affected the flowering and fruiting cycles of some crops, including pepper in the Central Highlands and East. Southern.
This is the period when pepper has just been harvested, which is a very sensitive period of the plant to the weather, and diseases such as fungi are very harmful. Many localities have warned that this year may be late flowering, causing next year's harvest to be affected in terms of time and yield.
According to the forecast of the hydro-meteorological agency, from now until the end of 2023, the heat will be intense, wider than 2022. Prolonged hot weather, pepper plants not being supplied with water to keep moisture in time will cause damage. The loss of water is quite large, leading to the fall of pepper flowers in the period of June - July. Therefore, the local agricultural sector has advised farmers to pay close attention to the tree.
