DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices rose by 500 VND on April 21
Friday, April 21,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands rose by 500 VND to VND64,000 – 67,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi,vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper rose to VND67,000 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price increased to VND64,000 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND66,000 per kilogram, Dong Nai province for VND64,500 per kilogram and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND65,000 per kilogram.
According to the preliminary data report of the General Department of Customs, exports in the first half of April 2023 reached 13,695 tonnes of pepper of all kinds, valued at 41.75 million USD; bringing the export of the first 3.5 months of the year to reached 89,795 tonnes, up 39.27% in volume and 8.59% in value over the same period last year.
The average export price of pepper in the period reached 3,048 USD/tonne, up 2.35% compared to the average export price of March 2023.
Local pepper farmers are entering the end-of-season harvest, so supply has increased and purchasing power remains stable.
According to the Import-Export Department (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade), it is forecasted that Vietnam's pepper exports will be more active in the second quarter thanks to high demand from China, Papua New Guinea, ASEAN, and Turkey offset the still quiet import demand of the US and EU markets.
