DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices remained unchanged on April 13
Thursday, April 13,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND63,000 – 66,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi,vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper rose to VND66,000 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price stayed at VND63,000 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND65,000 per kilogram, Dong Nai province for VND63,500 per kilogram and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND64,000 per kilogram.
Vietnam domestic pepper prices continued to be stable in the past 2 weeks. Vietnam's export pepper prices fell last week due to the quiet market.
According to Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association, in March 2023, Vietnam imported 3,713 tonnes of pepper, valued at 11.2 million USD, of which 3,487 tonnes of black pepper and 226 tonnes of white pepper, an increase of 55.1% month-on-month.
The three main pepper supplying countries to Vietnam include Brazil 64.5%, Cambodia 18.2% and Indonesia 10.2%. The main pepper importers are Olam Vietnam, Nedspice Vietnam, Pearl, Son Ha Spices and KSS Vietnam.
By the end of March 2023, Vietnam imported 7,814 tonnes of pepper, of which 7,378 tonnes of black pepper and 436 tonnes of white pepper, down 9.1% over the same period last year.
Brazil is the main supplier of pepper to Vietnam, accounting for 66.7% or 5,213 tons, up 57% over the same period last year. Meanwhile, imports from Cambodia and Indonesia both decreased by 57% and 38.9%, respectively.
Olam, Pearl and Nedspice are the 3 main importers in the first 3 months of 2023, the total imports of the 3 enterprises reached 5,625 tonnes, accounting for 72% of the total import volume.
