DAILY: Vietnamese coffee prices decreased by 300 VND on April 7
Friday, April 7,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area fell by 300 VND to VND49,600 – 49,700 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.com.
Cư M'gar of Dak Lak provided the maximum price of VND49,700/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND49,300 /kg. Robusta coffee decreased to VND49,300 per kg in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; to VND49,600- 49,700 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND49,500-49,600 per kg in Dak Nong; to VND49,600 per kg in Kon Tum, and to VND49,500-49,600 per kg in Gia Lai.
Vietnamese coffee prices rose this week tracking higher prices in London due to limited stocks, after trading activities started to increase, traders said on Thursday.
"Domestic prices reached highest level in years due to the scarcity of the beans," a trader based in the coffee belt said. "Farmers are not selling. Growers are turning to other trees such as passion fruit for better profit."
"The increase in domestic prices was in line with London movement," another trader based in the area said. "Only those who were in need of beans seal the contract at the moment as prices are high now."
Traders in Vietnam offered 5% black and broken-grade 2 robusta at a premium range of $40-$50 per tonne to the July contract, up from the $20-$30 premium range last week.
Coffee exports from Vietnam are estimated to have decreased 1.6% in the first quarter of 2023 from a year earlier to 572,000 tonnes, equivalent to 9.5 million 60-kg (130-pound) bags, the General Statistics Office said on Wednesday. Coffee export revenue for Vietnam, the world's biggest producer of the robusta bean, fell 2.3% to $1.3 billion in the January-March period, the agency said. The country's coffee shipments in March are estimated at 230,000 tonnes, valued at $522 million.
