Friday, March 31,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND63,500 – 65,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi,vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper stayed at VND65,500 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND63,500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND65,000 per kilogram, Dong Nai province for VND63,500 per kilogram and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND64,500 per kilogram.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association, pepper exports in the first half of March 2023 reached 16,670 tonnes worth 37.8 million USD. Harvest of the new crop is coming to the final stage with a decrease in output, while inventories are also not abundant.
China has become Vietnam's leading pepper import market with a record increase. Meanwhile, the harvest of this year's new pepper crop is coming to an end, with a forecast that output will drop significantly compared to the previous year's crop, while inventories are no longer abundant.
The reason for the decrease is due to the low price of pepper causing people to invest less in care and the unusually changing climate.
According to local gardeners, this year's crop of most of the farmers' pepper gardens has failed to varying degrees, about 30-60% of the output.
