DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices remained unchanged on March 23
Thursday, March 23,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND63,500 – 66,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi,vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper stayed at VND66,000 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND63,500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND65,500 per kilogram, Dong Nai province for VND64,000 per kilogram and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND64,500 per kilogram.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association, in the first two months of 2023, Vietnam exported 40,814 tonnes of pepper, including 37,310 tonnes of black pepper and 3,504 tonnes of white pepper, up 33% over the same period last year. Total export turnover reached USD128.6 million, of which USD111.8 million was black pepper and USD16.8 million of white pepper, down 9% over the same period last year.
Pearl is the leading exporter in the first 2 months of the year. Their pepper exports decreased by 11.5% to 3,399 tonnes year on year, accounting for 8.3% of the export market share. Next is Ly Hoang Son company exported 3,009 tonnes; Phuc Sinh: 2,547 tonnes, up 32.2%; Nedspice Vietnam: 2,468 tonnes, down 19.7%; Olam Vietnam: 2,446 tonnes, down 42.1%.
Some other companies saw a sudden increase in exports such as Indochina Dragon, which increased by 1,478.3% to 363 tonnes. Enterprises in the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association exported 25,963 tonnes, down 2.7% while businesses outside the Association exported 14,851 tonnes, up 272.8% over the same period last year.
China, the main consumption market of Vietnam's pepper in the first two months of 2023, imported 10,209 tonnes, up by 760% over the same period last year, accounting for 25% market share. Followed by the US imported 7,097 tonnes, down 17.2% y-o-y, accounting for 17.4% market share. Some other markets also saw an increase in imports such as the UAE: 2,655 tonnes, up 39.9%, the Philippines: 1,129 tonnes, up 36%. Exports also increased in Senegal, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Bangladesh but decreased in Germany, Netherlands, UK, India...
