AsemconnectVietnam - South Korea was the only key export market that saw positive growth in the first 2 months of this year.

Currently, South Korea is the third largest export market of Vietnam (after the United States and China). According to updated preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, in the first two months of the year, Vietnam’s export turnover to South Korea reached 3.79 billion USD, up by 2.1% over the same period last year and accounting for 7.6% of the country’s total export turnover.
South Korea is the only major market that saw positive growth in turnover, while the exports to other leading markets such as the United States, China, Japan or the ASEAN region, etc. all decreased.
The major groups of goods exported to South Korea with the turnover of hundreds of millions of dollars included computers, electronic products and components; phones and components; textiles; machinery, equipment, tools, spare parts, etc.
In the first 2 months of the year, the country’s total export turnover reached 49.64 billion USD, down by 10% (equivalent to 5.55 billion USD) compared to the same period last year.
In which, the exports of textiles and garments decreased by 1.11 billion USD, corresponding to a decrease of 19.6%; the exports of computers, electronic products and components decreased by 868 million USD, corresponding to a decrease of 10.9%; the exports of wood and wood products decreased by 784 million USD, or by 31.8%; the exports of footwear of all kinds fell by 525 million USD, equivalent to 16%; the exports of seafood decreased by 437 million USD, corresponding to a decrease of 29.1%; while the exports of iron and steel of all kinds decreased by 357 million USD, equivalent to 25.7%.
