Vietnam’s seafood exports and imports in 2022

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in 2022, Vietnam's seafood exports reached over 10.92 billion USD, up by 23% compared to 2021.
Meanwhile, seafood imports to Vietnam in 2022 reached over 2.72 billion USD, a sharp increase of 36.6% compared to 2021.

According to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s exports of aquatic products in 2022 reached over 10.92 billion USD, up by 23% compared to 2021. Particularly, seafood exports of foreign invested enterprises (FDI) accounted for 8.6% of the total export turnover of this commodity group of the country, reaching 941.09 million USD, up by 26%.
The US was leading the list of the country’s major seafood export markets, accounted for 19.5% of the total export turnover of this commodity group of the country, reaching over 2.13 billion USD, up by 4% compared to 2021.
Japan ranked second, accounting for 15.6%, reaching nearly 1.71 billion USD, up by 28.8%.
China followed. In 2022, the country’s exports of seafood to this market increased sharply by 61.2% compared to 2021, reaching over 1.57 billion USD, accounting for 14.3% of the total turnover.
Seafood exports to the RCEP FTA markets in 2022 increased sharply by 34.9% compared to 2021, reaching over 5.39 billion USD; the exports to the FTA CPTTP markets increased by 30.6%, reaching 2.87 billion USD. Seafood exports to the EU market accounted for 11.2% of the country's total seafood export turnover, reaching over 1.22 billion USD, up by 20.1%. The exports to the Southeast Asian market accounted for 7% of the total turnover, reaching nearly 774.87 million USD, a sharp increase of 28.5%.

According to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s imports of seafood in 2022 reached over 2.72 billion USD, a sharp increase of 36.6% compared to 2021.
India, Norway, Indonesia, China and Taiwan were the main markets supplying seafood to Vietnam; in which the imports from India led in turnover, reaching 377.95 million USD, accounting for 13.9% of the country's total import turnover of this group of goods, up by 20.2% compared to 2021.
The second place was the Indonesian market, the imports from this market in 2022 reached 277.95 million USD, accounting for 10.2%, a sharp increase of 94% compared to 2021.
The next was the Norwegian market with 259.84 million USD in 2022, accounting for 9.6% of the total import turnover, up by 16.5%; China with 213.4 million USD, accounting for 7.8%, up by 18.6%; and Taiwan with 175.73 million USD, accounting for 6.5%, up by 27%.
The seafood imports from RCEP FTA markets in 2022 reached 883.22 million USD, accounting for 32.5% of total import turnover, up by 33%. The imports from CPTTP markets reached 342.17 million USD, accounting for 12.6%, up by 13% compared to 2021.
