US – Vietnam’s leading electronics export markets in North American region
Tuesday, October 20,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s electronics exports to the North American market in September of 2026 were estimated to reach approximately $7.60–$7.85 billion, a recovery of about 3%-6% compared to August of 2026, driven by inventory stocking ahead of the year-end shopping season.
Consequently, total electronics exports to this region for the first nine months of 2026 are expected to reach approximately $59.38-$59.63 billion, maintaining a growth rate of about 41%-43% year-on-year.
Previously, according to data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, electronics exports from Vietnam to North American markets during the first eight months of 2026 reached $51.78 billion, a 42.17% increase compared to the same period in 2025 and a substantial 216.95% surge compared to the same period of 2021. Among these, the United States was the largest destination for Vietnam’s exports during the first eight months of 2026, with a turnover of $47.35 billion, an increase of 40.38% compared to the same period of 2025 and 230.29% compared to the same period of 2021. This accounted for 91.45% of the total export value of this product category to the North American market, slight decrease from the 92.32% share recorded in the same period of 2025, but an increase from the 87.75% share seen in 2021.
This remarkable growth stems from the ongoing shift in global technology supply chains, as multinational corporations increasingly pursue production diversification strategies, selecting Vietnam as a key hub for the assembly and manufacturing of electronic devices. Furthermore, consumer demand and investments in technological infrastructure across North America, particularly in the United States, have maintained strong momentum, driving the need for computers, smart devices, and semiconductor components.
By proactively improving the investment climate, streamlining customs procedures, and enhancing domestic production capacity, businesses in Vietnam have effectively capitalized on these opportunities to ensure a stable supply while meeting the rigorous standards required by this regional market. Exports to Mexico-the second-largest market, reached $2.89 billion, an increase of 69.78% compared to the same period in 2025 and 126.54% compared to the same period in 2021. This accounts for 5.59% of the total export value of these products to the North American market, an expansion from the 4.68% share recorded in the same period of 2025, though a contraction from the 7.82% share seen in the same period of 2021.
The exports to Canada reached $1.53 billion, up by 40.47% from the same period in 2025 and 112.17% from the same period of 2021. This represents 2.97% of the total export value for this product category, a slight shift from the 3% share in the same period of 2025 and a decrease from the 4.43% share in the same period of 2021.
In the first eight months of 2026, the composition of Vietnam’s electronics exports to the North American market was as follows: computers, electronic products, and components reached $41.67 billion, an increase of 51.54% over the same period of 2025 and a substantial 351.23% rise compared to the same period of 2021. The exports of telephones (all types) and their components showed steady growth, reaching $10.10 billion, up by 13.76% from the same period of 2025 and 42.34% from the same period of 2021.
