Vietnam's trade turnover and trade deficit continued to rise sharply in July of 2026

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s export turnover in July of 2026 reached US$53.08 billion, up by 4.5% from the previous month. Specifically, the domestic economic sector reached US$10.27 billion (up by 2.7%), while the foreign-invested sector (including crude oil) reached US$42.81 billion (up by 5%).
In comparison to the same period last year, the country’s export turnover in July of 2026 rose by 25%, with the domestic sector increasing by 14% and the foreign-invested sector (including crude oil) by 27.9%.
In the first seven months of 2026, the total export turnover reached US$319.53 billion, a 21.7% increase year-on-year. Of this, the domestic economic sector accounted for US$63.64 billion (up by 5.8%), representing 19.9% of the total, while the foreign-invested sector (including crude oil) reached US$255.89 billion (up by 26.4%), accounting for 80.1%.
The country’s import turnover in July 2026 reached US$56.67 billion, up by 6.1% from the previous month. Specifically, the import value of the domestic economic sector reached US$13.8 billion (down by 2.8%), while the import value of the foreign-invested sector reached US$42.87 billion (up by 9.3%). In comparison to the same period last year, the country’s import value in July rose by 41.4%, with the domestic sector increasing by 23.7% and the foreign-invested sector by 48.2%. In the first seven months of 2026, the total value of goods imports reached US$340.05 billion, an increase of 34.8% year-on-year; specifically, the domestic economic sector accounted for US$92.14 billion (up by 24.1%), while the foreign-invested sector accounted for US$247.91 billion (up by 39.2%).
Regarding goods export and import markets during the first seven months of this year, the United States was Vietnam's largest export market, with a turnover of US$104.7 billion (up by 23%), while China was the largest import market, with a turnover of US$138.6 billion (up by 36.6%). During this period, Vietnam recorded a trade surplus of US$91.4 billion with the United States (up by 22.6% year-on-year), US$26.6 billion with the EU (up by 19.9%), and US$1.5 billion with Japan (up by 12.5%). The country recorded a trade deficit of US$93.0 billion with China (up by 39.7%), US$32.4 billion with South Korea (up by 86.9%), and US$12.2 billion with ASEAN (up by 45.8%).
