Hanoi focuses on developing priority and key industries

AsemconnectVietnam - All levels and sectors of Hanoi need to continue implementing solutions to promote industrial development, focusing on priority industries, key industries, supporting industries, and attracting investment in large industrial projects to increase production capacity.

According to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, looking back at the results of Hanoi's economic development in 2024, industrial production activities in the following quarter are always higher than the previous quarter; all level 1 industries all increased sharply compared to 2023.
In particular, the number of key industrial export orders increased significantly. The added value of the industry increased by 6.2%, contributing 0.82 percentage points to the 6.52% increase in the total product in the area (GRDP).
In 2025, Hanoi aims for the added value of the industry to increase by 6.95% or more, thereby increasing its contribution to GRDP.
Economic experts assessed that the sharp increase in the capital's export turnover showed an increase in export orders. This is also an important condition for businesses to promote production, especially in the processing and manufacturing industry. That means, to achieve high economic growth, industrial production will have to accelerate and make a strong breakthrough.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thuong Lang (National Economics University) said that the increase in export turnover in Hanoi in particular and the whole country in general showed the recovery of production as well as the efforts of Vietnamese businesses in taking advantage of signed FTAs. On the other hand, businesses are also actively looking for customers, adjusting production and business models to suit reality, actively participating directly in foreign distribution networks...
From the business community, right after the Lunar New Year holiday, businesses immediately started production and business with the expectation of successfully implementing the plan set out for the year. General Director of Garment 10 Corporation Than Duc Viet said that the unit has agreed on a contract until the end of the second quarter of 2025 and guaranteed jobs for workers until the end of the year.
Vice President of the Hanoi City Association of Supporting Industry Enterprises Nguyen Van said that in the coming time, the city's levels and sectors need to continue to have solutions to promote industrial development, focusing on priority industries, key industries, supporting industries, attracting investment in large industrial projects to increase production capacity.
The city should focus on supporting domestic and international investors who are building factory complexes in industrial parks and industrial clusters with established infrastructure...
Prioritizing the development of a number of industries with competitive advantages
According to Deputy Director in charge of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Kieu Oanh, Hanoi will choose to prioritize the development of a number of industries with competitive advantages, the ability to participate deeply, and contribute high added value to the production network and global value chain. This is also a fundamental field, with spillover effects to other economic sectors, using clean, environmentally friendly technology.
In addition, the City continues to connect and support industrial enterprises to become product suppliers for domestic and foreign customers... Activities to support enterprises in developing production aim to promote the acceleration of the industrial sector, contributing more to the economic growth of the Capital.
To promote industrial production growth, Hanoi strives for 100% of enterprises producing key industrial products to benefit from the City's support policies. The City People's Committee has assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and urge departments, branches and localities to synchronously implement the above solutions.
In addition, the City also focuses on implementing credit interest rate policies for priority areas... focusing on improving the investment and business environment, removing bottlenecks, difficulties and obstacles, especially for non-budgetary investment projects using land, improving the investment and business environment, creating momentum for economic and social recovery and development.
Hanoi City also continues to support businesses to innovate, improve production capacity, increase the localization rate; closely follow developments in the world economy, do a good job of market information, especially potential markets; guide and support associations and businesses to exploit and promote traditional markets and open up new, potential markets; promote propaganda about free trade agreements, helping businesses grasp opportunities to promote production investment and chain linkages.
At the same time, innovate and improve the effectiveness of trade promotion activities, connecting domestic production and business enterprises. Connecting domestic enterprises with foreign enterprises to find partners, orders, and markets through trade connection conferences, fairs, exhibitions, etc.
