Imports from Thailand reached 8.6 billion USD in first 9 months of 2023

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, the import turnover of goods from the Thai market in September of 2023 reached 982.5 million USD, an increase of 1.1% compared to the previous month.

Overall, the country’s total imports of goods from Thailand first 9 months of 2023 reached 8.6 billion USD, down by 17.5% over the same period last year.
In the first 9 months of 2023, the leading items imported by the country from Thailand were computers, electronic products and components, reaching 1.3 billion USD, an increase of 11.2%, accounting for 15.6% of the proportion. The next was complete cars of all kinds, reaching 882.7 million USD, accounting for 10.1% of the proportion.
Some product groups imported from Thailand in the first 9 months of 2023 increased compared to the same period last year: paper products increased by 32%; corn products increased by 19.9%; fertilizers of all kinds increased by 108.2%; pesticides and raw materials increased by 10.5%.
In the first 9 months of 2023, the imports from Thailand reached 8,683,647,188 USD, while the exports to Thailand reached 5,444,899,103 USD, trade deficit reached 3,238,748,085 USD.
Vietnam,Thailand and other ASEAN countries participate in many bilateral and multilateral trade agreements and agreements such as the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA), Free Trade Agreements, and other bilateral and multilateral trade agreement between ASEAN and partner countries. The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is the largest free trade agreement, which has just taken effect from the beginning of 2022.
This not only helps tariff barriers on the two countries' goods have basically been removed, opening up many opportunities for import and export goods, but also create favorable conditions for Vietnam and Thailand to cooperate in building construction of supply chains, production chains and promoting exports to third countries.
