Items with import-export turnover of 100 billion USD in 9 months
Monday, October 23,2023AsemconnectVietnam - By the end of September, the first import-export group that reached a turnover of 100 billion USD was computers, electronic products and components.
According to the General Department of Customs, the first group of goods with an import-export turnover exceeding 100 billion USD in the first nine months of this year was computers, electronic products and components with 104.23 billion USD. This is also the country's first import-export group to achieve a three-digit turnover scale.
Notably, after many years of ranking second after phones and components, in 2023, computers, electronic products and components have become our country's largest export group.
Specifically, by the end of September, the country’s exports of computers, electronic products and components reached 41.41 billion USD, down by 1.1% over the same period last year; while the imports reached 62.82 billion USD, down by 1.8% over the same period last year. Thus, by the end of September, this group of goods had a trade deficit of 21.41 billion USD.
The main export markets of this product group can be mentioned as the United States, China, EU, Hong Kong (China), etc. while major import markets can be mentioned as South Korea, China, Taiwan (China), etc.
By the end of September, the group of computers, electronic products and components alone accounted for 21% of the country's total import-export turnover.
The electronics industry is a manufacturing industry, has a key position in the economy and has a strong spillover impact on other industries. At the same time, it is a measure of the level of economic and technical development of every country in the world. Vietnam's electronics industry currently accounts for 17.8% of the entire industry, mainly producing electronic products, computers and optical products.
In the period from 2011 to 2022, the electronics, computers and components group continued to achieve high growth rates. The annual growth rates were: 2019 and 2020 both increased by 22.8%; in 2021 it increased by 13.5% and in 2022 it increased by 9.7%. The average increase for the period 2011-2022 was 25.6%.
