Vietnam - US trade reached more than 90 billion USD
Friday, October 20,2023AsemconnectVietnam - The United States continued to be Vietnam's largest export market and second largest trading partner.
According to the preliminary statistics figures just announced by the General Department of Customs, in September of this year, Vietnam's export turnover to the United States reached 8.11 billion USD, thereby increasing the turnover by the end of September to 70.23 billion USD. Despite a decrease of about 15 billion USD compared to the same period last year (the figure of the same period last year reached 85.2 billion USD), the United States was still Vietnam's largest export market.
According to the reporter's observations, most of our country's export product groups appear in the world's largest economy. By the end of September, there were 11 export product groups with a turnover of 1 billion USD or more, of which 3 groups reached 10 billion USD or more.
The product group with the largest turnover was machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts with 12.5 billion USD. The next was computers, electronic products and components reaching 11.82 billion USD; textile and garment reached more than 11 billion USD.
Thus, the three largest product groups alone accounted for more than 50% of Vietnam's export turnover to the US market.
In addition to the three "tens of billions of dollars" product groups, other large product groups included phones and components; footwear; wood and wood products.
On the contrary, by the end of September, the country’s import turnover from the United States reached 10.26 billion USD, down by about 900 million USD compared to the same period last year.
Computers, electronic products and components were the largest imported goods group with a turnover of 2.63 billion USD, this was also the only "billion dollar" group of goods as of the end of September.
In addition, there were many groups of goods imported from the United States with a turnover of hundreds of millions of dollars such as cotton; machinery, equipment, tools, spare parts; scrap iron and steel; animal feed and raw materials.
With the total import-export turnover between the two countries reaching nearly 80.5 billion USD in the past 9 months, the United States continued to be Vietnam's second largest trading partner.
