Exports of cassava and products increased for second consecutive month
Thursday, October 19,2023AsemconnectVietnam - In September of 2023, Vietnam's exports of cassava and cassava products increased by 35.7% in volume and 40.4% in value compared to the same period of 2022, the second consecutive month of increase.
China was still Vietnam's largest cassava export market.
According to the statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, in September of 2023, Vietnam exported 262,830 tonnes of cassava and cassava products, worth of 122.89 million USD, an increase of 18.8% in volume and increased 19% in value compared to August of 2023. In comparison to September of 2022, it increased by 35.7% in volume and 40.4% in value. Thus, in September of 2023, Vietnam's exports of cassava and cassava products increased for the second consecutive month.
The average export price in September of 2023 was at 467.6 USD/tonne, up by 0.2% compared to August of 2023 and up by 3.4% compared to September of 2022.
Totally in the first 9 months of 2023, the country’s exports of cassava and cassava products reached over 2.13 million tonnes, worth of 891.77 million USD, down by 8.4% in volume and down by 13% in value compared to the same period last year. In September of 2023, China was still Vietnam's largest export market for cassava and cassava products, accounting for 96.46% in volume and 95.68% in value of total cassava and cassava exports of the whole country, reaching 253,520 tonnes, worth of 117.58 million USD, an increase of 19.5% in volume and an increase of 19.9% in value compared to August of 2023. In comparison to September of 2022, it increased by 47.7% in volume and 50.6% in value.
The average export price of cassava and cassava products to China was at 463.8 USD/tonne, up by 0.4% compared to August of 2023 and up by 1.9% compared to September of 2022.
Totally in the first 9 months of 2023, Vietnam exported to China 1.94 million tonnes of cassava and cassava products, worth of 804.94 million USD, down by 8.4% in volume and down by 14% in value compared to the same period of 2022.
In the first 9 months of 2023, although the amount of cassava exported decreased, the exports of cassava and cassava products to several markets still grew in both volume and value compared to the same period of 2022, such as Taiwan market, (China), Malaysia, and Japan.
Experts say that the last months of 2023 will be the peak consumption season for Chinese food products, which will have a good impact on the prospects of exporting cassava and cassava products from Vietnam to this market.
