Import-export turnover reached nearly 500 billion USD in 9 months
Monday, October 16,2023AsemconnectVietnam - By the end of September, Vietnam’s import-export turnover reached nearly 500 billion USD, with a surplus of nearly 22 billion USD.
According to the preliminary statistics figures announced by the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s monthly import-export turnover in September of 2023 reached 59.16 billion USD.
Of which, the exports reached 30.68 billion USD, down by 6.3% compared to August of 2023.
During the month, there were 7 product groups with a turnover of 1 billion USD, including: computers, electronic products and components with 5.48 billion USD; phones and components reached 5.04 billion USD; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reached 4.07 billion USD; textiles reached 2.57 billion USD, footwear reached 1.34 billion USD; transport vehicles and spare parts reached 1.21 billion USD; wood and wood products reached 1.14 billion USD.
Of the 7 key product groups, only 2 groups had increased turnover compared to the previous month: machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts increased by 12.3%; computers, electronic products and components increased by 3.7%.
Meanwhile, transport vehicles and spare parts maintained the same turnover level as last month.
Of the remaining 4 product groups, 3 groups decreased sharply by double digits: textiles and garments decreased by 25.5%; footwear decreased by 22.2%; wood and wood products decreased by 12%. Meanwhile, phones and accessories decreased slightly by 2.1%.
By the end of September, the country's total export turnover reached 258.97 billion USD, down by 8.5% over the same period last year.
On the contrary, the imports of goods in September recorded a figure of 28.48 billion USD, down by 2.9% compared to the previous month.
There were 3 groups of imported goods that achieved a turnover of 1 billion USD or more in September. The largest was still computers, electronic products and components with 8.59 billion USD, an increase of 2.4% over the previous month. The next was machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reached 3.58 billion USD, down by 4.1%; fabric reached nearly 1.1 billion USD, an increase of 1.5%.
By the end of September, the country's total import turnover reached 237.33 billion USD, down by 14% compared to the same period of 2022.
Thus, by the end of September, Vietnam's import-export turnover reached 496.3 billion USD. The trade balance reached a surplus of 21.64 billion USD.
