DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices remained unchanged on October 12
Thursday, October 12,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND67,500 to VND70,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper stayed at VND70,500 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND67,500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND70,000 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND68,500 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND69,000 per kilogram.
The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association officially announced data for September and the first 9 months of 2023. Accordingly, in September 2023, Vietnam exported 16,630 tonnes of pepper of all kinds, in which, black pepper reached 14,832 tonnes and white pepper reached 1,798 tonnes.
Total export turnover reached 62 million USD, in which black pepper reached 52.9 million USD and white pepper reached 9.1 million USD, decreased by 15.2% in value and decreased by 15.5% in volume compared to August. The average export price of black pepper in September reached 3,687 USD/tonne, an increase of 54 USD and white pepper reached 5,157 USD/tonne, a decrease of 28 USD compared to August. Phuc Sinh was the leading export enterprise in September exporting 1,389 tonnes, an increase of 28.1% over the previous month and accounting for 8.4% of Vietnam's pepper export market share. Next are Olam Vietnam: 1,332 tonnes, Nedspice Vietnam: 1,313 tonnes, Pearl: 1,030 tonnes.
The US continues to be the main export market of Vietnamese pepper in September exporting 3,842 tonnes, down 12.2% compared to the previous month. Next is the Chinese market: 2,193 tonnes, up 49.7%; India: 992 tonnes, down 50.1%.
In 9 months, Vietnam exported 204,385 tonnes of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 183,475 tonnes and white pepper reached 20,910 tonnes. Total export turnover reached 678.1 million USD, in which black pepper reached 578.2 million USD, and white pepper reached 99.9 million USD.
Compared to the same period in 2022, export volume increased by 15.3%, equivalent to 27,164 tonnes, however export turnover decreased by 13.4%, equivalent to a decrease of 104.5 million USD. The average export price of black pepper in the first 9 months of 2023 reached 3,539 USD/tonne, in which white pepper reached 5,068 USD/tonne, down 15.3% and 14.2% respectively over the same period in 2022.
