DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices remained unchanged on October 10
Tuesday, October 10,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Tuesday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND68,000 to VND71,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper stayed at VND71,000 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND68,000 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND70,000 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND68,500 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND69,000 per kilogram.
Accumulated in the first 9 months of 2023, Vietnam's pepper exports reached 207 thousand tonnes, an increase of 18.7% over the same period in 2022. Turnover reached 685 million USD, down 11.1%. There is only the fourth quarter of 2023 left, so the pepper industry's billion-dollar export target is very difficult to achieve, amid the current market turmoil and tight supply.
Vietnam has sold most of its output this year. This is shown by the pepper export data for the first 9 months of the year, which has exceeded the 2023 harvest. But thanks to imports and inventory from previous years still remaining, the domestic pepper supply can still meet demand. Buyers continue to closely monitor the outlook for the 2024 crop and do not want to buy futures contracts at high prices.
