DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices remained unchanged on August 31
Thursday, August 31,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND69,000 to VND72,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper stayed at VND72,500 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price to VND69,000 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND71,500 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND70,000 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND70,500 per kilogram.
According to the General Statistics Office, Vietnam's pepper exports in August reached 16,000 tonnes, up 4.9% compared to July, but down 13.4% over the same period last year. Export turnover in August reached 60 million USD, up 5.4% compared to July, but down 20.2% over the same period last year.
In the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam's pepper exports reached 183,900 tonnes, up 14.5% over the same period in 2022. Turnover reached 600 million USD, down 15.9% over the same period in 2022. The average export price of Vietnam's pepper in August increased for the third consecutive month and reached the highest level in the past 10 months, reaching $3,748 per tonne, up 0.5% compared to July, but down 7.9 % compared to the same period last year.
Accumulated in the first 8 months of 2023, the average export price of Vietnam's pepper reached 3,263 USD/tonne, down 26.5% over the same period in 2022. With 183,000 tonnes exported equal to the output of the whole crop this year, according to experts, there is not much inventory left on the domestic market.
