Petroleum export markets in the first 7 months of 2023

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's petroleum exports in July of 2023 decreased by 14.1% in volume and 1.1% in turnover compared to the previous month, reaching 181,183 tonnes, worth of 140.6 million USD.

Generally, in the first 7 months of 2023, the country’s exports of petroleum reached 1,298,374 tonnes, worth of 1.07 billion USD, up by 6.1% in volume and down by 9.8% in value.
Cambodia was still Vietnam's largest petroleum export market. In the first 7 months of 2023, the country’s exports of petroleum to Cambodia reached 360,815 tonnes, worth of 301 million USD, down by 15.2% in volume and by 32.3% in value compared to the same period last year, accounting for more than 27% of total export volume and turnover. In July of 2023 alone, the figure reached 43,542 tonnes, worth of 34.3 million USD, down by 18.6% in volume and down by 13.4% in value.
The South Korean market accounted for 8-9% of the total volume and total turnover, reaching 113,520 tonnes, with a turnover of 104.2 million USD, up by 57.3% in volume and 41.1% in value. In July of 2023 alone, the country’s exports of petroleum to South Korea reached 16,454 tonnes, worth of 13.2 million USD.
Petroleum exports to the Chinese market accounted for more than 7-8% in total volume and turnover, reaching 99,394 tonnes, with a turnover of 92.5 million USD, up by 75.6% in volume and 48% in value in the first 7 months of 2023. In July of 2023 alone, the country’s exports to China decreased by 8.3% in volume and 10.2% in value.
Singapore market followed, accounting for 10.7% in total volume and 7.1% in total turnover, with 139,262 tonnes, worth of 77.4 million USD, up by 53.7% in volume and 8.3% in value. In July of 2023 alone, the country’s exports of petroleum to Singapore reached 25,239 tonnes, worth of 13.4 million USD.
The other countries, such as Laos, Malaysia and Thailand, only accounted for a small proportion of exports, less than 4% of the total volume and total turnover.
