DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices remained unchanged on August 10
Thursday, August 10,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND71,000 to VND74,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper stayed at VND74,000 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND71,000 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND73,000 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND71,000 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND72,000 per kilogram.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), through evaluating and reviewing data compared to previous forecasts, Vietnam’s pepper output in 2023 is estimated at about 190,000 tonnes, up 3.8 % compared to 2022.
Flooding in July in the Central Highlands region, especially in Dak Nong province, has more or less affected pepper gardens. Although these pepper gardens have been drained, it is still necessary to monitor the situation to have appropriate solutions.
However, VPSA said that this is not as worrisome as the El Nino phenomenon that will take place at the end of the year and last until the beginning of next year. Drought and lack of rain may reduce Vietnam’s pepper production next year.
